NOTE: If you would like to sign up for the French Program, please complete the regular GTL application via OIE, and sent an email to Professor Ippolito, so that he knows you plan to do the French Program!

Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA requirement:  2.5 for GT students and 3.0 for Transient students. Students falling on academic probation, right before departure, will no longer be eligible to go to Georgia Tech-Lorraine. (Please review our cancellation policy)
  • A clean disciplinary record

Transfer students can apply to attend GTL as early as the second semester of their studies at Tech. (So, Fall transfers can apply to study at GTL in the Spring; Spring transfers could apply to study at GTL for the Fall semester at the earliest, as enrollments for Summer will already be closed.)

Freshmen are eligible to apply for the Summer Program and will be accepted conditionally until they have a GPA on record from their first semester on campus. In January, their acceptance will either be confirmed, or retracted if their Fall GPA is below 2.5.

Transient students or undergraduate students from other universities must be US citizens or US Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) to apply to Georgia Tech-Lorraine. Students from other universities on other types of US visas are NOT permitted to apply. 3.0 GPA required.

Before applying, please read and make sure you understand our cancellation policy.

Georgia Tech Undergraduate Students:

When can I apply?

Each program will be closed as soon as it reaches its maximum capacity. Spring and Fall programs close by the set deadlines due to time constraints dictated by the visa application process. Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis during the application window, first-come, first-served for these two semesters. It usually takes several weeks before you will hear if you are accepted.

Summer applications are not reviewed until applications close. This program always sells out, so be sure to apply early.

And remember, your application fee is non-refundable once you have been accepted to the program. Make sure you understand our cancellation policy before applying! Please plan in advance for all semesters.

How do I apply?

Step 1: Application to Georgia Tech-Lorraine

  2. Complete the OIE Online Application
  3. Pay the $500 application fee through the Online Deposit Payment System link found on the OIE Online Application page.

Graduate Students

Georgia Tech-Lorraine is Georgia Tech's European campus. Masters and Ph.D students must apply and be accepted by a graduate program (ECE, ME or CS majors only) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in order to attend Georgia Tech-Lorraine. Other majors may be able to attend Georgia Tech-Lorraine for one semester, if they find enough courses to fill their schedule. Although you must apply via Georgia Tech's main campus in Atlanta, students will be able to complete their entire Masters degree on the Lorraine campus if they so desire.

On the application, please select "Lorraine" as your campus of choice. Please review the student's section under the Graduate Programs tab on the left. It is very important that you follow the process outlined in those tabs which varies for transient students, partner school students, and Georgia Tech students.

Application Process:  Please email Alina Opreanu for instructions on how to apply.

Current Georgia Tech Graduate students should contact Andrea Gappell and Alina Opreanu to inform them of their interest in studying at Georgia Tech-Lorraine, and to receive an application form. Please DO NOT complete an application through OIE - this is for undergraduate students only!  Once accepted into the program,  Alina Opreanu will assist with the process of obtaining a student visa.
