Graduate Housing

All student housing accommodations are within walking distance of the Georgia Tech-Lorraine building. Graduate and PhD students are housed in the ALOES dorm. Corinne Guyot is in charge of room bookings for International Graduate students and PhD students. Students from French partner schools will need to contact the individual dorm managers directly to make housing arrangements. Please inform the staff that you are a Georgia Tech-Lorraine student when you book your room.

ALOES 2 offers single rooms with a private bathroom and kitchenette (equipped with hotplate, refrigerator, microwave, sink). It also offers double rooms (2 bedrooms) with a shared bathroom and kitchenette. Rooms are fully-furnished (bed, desk, chair, desk lamp, closet, nightstand), have telephone and internet outlets, bedding and linens. The facility also includes a token-operated laundry room, gathering/bar area, and TV room.

ALOES 1 offers single rooms with a private bathroom and double rooms with a shared bathroom. Common kitchens are shared with about 6 people, are equipped with cooktops, sinks, refrigerators, tables, chairs, and dishware.

NOTE: Telephone and internet services are not included. Internet access is available for 5€ per month. The Rezo Association (the student association in charge of the student housing network) arranges the internet setup.

Rent & Housing Insurance for International Students

The housing deposit, application fee, and first month’s rent are due the first month of class. They must be paid by check (Euros only). Rent is due monthly and is paid by automatic debit.

Housing insurance must be purchased upon arrival. Students must sign a housing contract (public liability and fire insurance) and turn it in to the dorm manager. The mandatory dorm insurance is valid for one year. The cost is. 56.62 € (provided by BNP bank).

Students may be eligible for a housing subsidy based on the following conditions:

  • Staying 2 semesters
  • Obtaining a “CESEDA” visa type (visa “étudiant”)
  • Providing all requested paperwork

NOTE: Students who are eligible for a housing subsidy will be charged the full rent until all paperwork has been processed and accepted. For additional information regarding subsidized housing, please contact Corinne Guyot.

Each room (1 or 2 beds) comes with a bathroom with toilet and all the furniture you will need (bed, bedside table, desk, chairs, lamps, closet, shelf). Some rooms are equipped with a kitchenette (sink, hot plates, and refrigerator). You will also find shared kitchens in some buildings of the dorm equipped with cooktops, sinks, fridges, microwaves, ovens, tables, chairs and dishware for 10 people.

Telephone and internet services are not included. The student association in charge of the student housing network arranges the internet setup. The facility also includes a token-operated laundry room, a computer room, and a TV room.
